The organisers of the popular punk-rock-garage festival, Noise In The Valley, have announced a brand new event. The all-dayer, Noise In The Parish, which takes place on Saturday 19th July at the Parish in Huddersfield, will feature 14 bands, split across two stages, with The Wytches topping the bill.
Formed in Brighton in 2011, The Wytches are a four-piece comprising singer-songwriter Kristian Bell, bassist Daniel Rumsey, keyboardist/guitarist Mark Breed and drummer Bhavin Thaker. Led by Bell’s luminous lyricism, feral delivery and overdriven, surf-like guitar bends, they create a sound that is at once raucous and unruly, and yet decorated with semi-automatic poetry and authentic emotional clout.
The Noise In The Parish line-up also features an array of young and upcoming local bands, including Bishops and Vinyl Friday, along with sets from Slung, The Big Hell, Magick Mountain, Scouge, Tiger Island, Haggard Cat, Handsome Liars, Under The Influence, Yeah Maybe and Gutter Puppy.
The festival is run by Noise In Promotions’ Ben Warrington and John Simmons-Powell who promise “a day of loud, exciting underground acts” to the venue.
Ben, who’s also guitarist in the band The Tall Trees, says: “It’s a real celebration of underground, big, loud bands, showcasing the best and brightest from Yorkshire and beyond to play at one of the best venues for underground music in the country. We can’t wait.”
For the last two years, Noise In The Valley have drawn big crowds to their Sowerby Bridge events, mixing local upcoming talent with established names. Leeds DIY scream-mongers Pulled Apart By Horses were last year’s headline act. Also on the bill were Lands & Body, Dan’s Girlfriend, Screams Of Youth, Objections and Chiang.
