Lizardfest, The Grayston Unity (Halifax) – Saturday 14th December
Renowned for their stunning line-up of hard rock, noisecore and fresh-punk all-dayers, the team behind Lizardfest head to The Grayston for Lizardfest 35. The eye-popping bill features Rupcha Farms, Chiang, Dead Retinas, Bad Smell and Sleepy Jake. Five bands for £5. Anyone’d think it’s Christmas!
Bradford’s very own Rupcha Farms are the headliners, infusing brash northern spike with a bevvy of potent rap vocals and spirited metal-punk riffs. Think Skindred, UK Grime, Linkin Park and Prodigy. More>
2. ANNELISE MONSERÉ + GERALDINE SNELL, The Puzzle (Sowerby Bridge) – Thursday 12th December
ADRA Promotions brings you experimental minimalist drone folk from Belgium. Annelise has developed for herself a lo-fi, delicate and perpetually beguiling sound that enraptures and intrigues in equal measure. In support, the wonderful Geraldine from Hebden Bridge creates hypnotic dream-pop conjured through looped vocals and keyboard theatrics. More>
3. JANE WEAVER, The Trades Club (Hebden Bridge) – Sat 14th & Sun 15th December
Obliterating whimsical pop trends, Jane Weaver is a truly independent and confidently original songwriter, adding layers and scope to her creative range with each new release. A great booking for The Trades Club, Jane is in town for an evening gig on the Saturday and a matinee show the following afternoon. More>
4. ASK MY BULL + WOIOI, The Golden Lion (Todmorden) – Thursday 12th December
The final show of the year from the irrepressible force that is Dark Matter Promotions… Expect a visceral-yet-lush explosion of dance-tastic punk. Ask My Bull is delightfully hyperactive and cinematically epic. A musical chimera of sense-mangling beauty. More>
5. THE BLUETONES (Acoustic), The Grayston Unity (Halifax) – Fri 13th & Sat 14th December
The 90s indie favourites, fronted by Mark Morris, make another welcome and now-traditional return to The Grayston, this time in their acoustic guise but nonetheless guaranteed to deliver a crowd-pleasing set. Two in fact. They’re in town for a Friday night show and a matinee the following afternoon. Must be catching on, this lark (see Jane Weaver above). More>
6. MARIE FRANC + START TO RUN, The Puzzle (Sowerby Bridge) – Friday 20th December
Six-piece from Manchester, offering a blend of sultry pop vocals and intricate instrumentation, plus exciting new dream-pop outfit from Todmorden in support. More>
7. EUROS CHILDS, The Trades Club (Hebden Bridge) – Wednesday 11th December
Solo artist from Pembrokeshire who fronted the band Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci from 1991 until their demise in 2004 and has released eight solo albums of increasing magnificence since. More>
8. DOOGLE + WONKY PUSS, The Puzzle (Sowerby Bridge) – Friday 6th December
Doogle are an exciting new band making waves with their mixture of classic indie pop hooks. Support act, Wonky Puss, spread joy and bemusement in equal measure with their brand of energetic anti-folk full of ramshackle charm. More>
9. BRIGANTES, The Blind Pig (Sowerby Bridge) – Thursday 19th December
